POSITION: Librarian IV – Branch Manager

Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Regional Library is looking for a dynamic individual committed to excellence, integrity, and teamwork as manager of the Havelock-Craven County Public Library.

LOCATION: Havelock, NC

NOTE: The Havelock-Craven County Public Library is located on the Craven Community College satellite campus – within a 25 minute drive to local beaches. The library has a staff of 7 and serves the general public, local military base, and local community college students.

SALARY: $38,000 – $41,000; Health insurance, 401(k) match.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library Science, 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in a public library setting, including administrative and supervisory duties, and the ability to obtain/possess North Carolina Public Librarian certification.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs administrative and professional library work in planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of a public library program; collaborates and supports the local Community College staff/administration to provide services to college students. Administrative skills include supervising all library personnel involved in the delivery of library services, developing and presenting annual budget proposals, and monitoring assigned line items to ensure budget discipline is maintained.

In addition to the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate is a flexible leader with a proven track record advocating for and expanding patron services.  The candidate will embrace change, will have high expectations for his/her own work and the work of others, and will excel at the following:

  • Effective training and scheduling of library staff
  • Drafting and implementing procedures
  • Knowledge and expertise in both circulation and reference work and trends
  • Relationship-building with all levels of staff and administration
  • Internal and external customer service
  • Other duties tasks as required
