A Nonpartisan Resource for the Tuesday, November 3, 2020 General Election

General Election: A final election for a political office with a limited list of candidates. The candidates in the general election are the people who won their party’s primary election. General elections happen at a local, state, and national level.


Register To Vote
Check that your voter registration is current at vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup.
Enter your name and county. When your name appears, click the link and verify that your information is correct.  If not, you can update and/or Register to Vote the following ways:
  • Pick up a Voter Registration form at your County Board of Elections
    • Craven County Board of Elections, 406 Craven St, New Bern or call 252-636-6610
    • Pamlico County Board of Elections, County Courthouse, 202 Main Street, Bayboro or call 252-745-4821
  • Pick up a Voter Registration form at your local Craven-Pamlico County Regional library.

  • Register Online N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles now offers certain online voter registration services for existing DMV customers. If you are a DMV customer with a N.C. driver’s license or DMV-issued ID, you may now register to vote or change certain parts of your registration online at no cost here:  www.ncdot.gov/dmv/offices-services/online/Pages/voter-registration-application.aspx
  • One-Stop (Early Voting). You may register and vote the same day during One Stop (Early Voting). If you are not registered, bring proof of NC residency such as an NC Driver's License with current residence or utility bill with your name and address.

Absentee Ballots
Submit a completed Absentee ballot request from to your County Board of Elections.

Project Vote Smart – A nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization that collects and distributes information on candidates for public office.

TurboVote – A tool that makes voting easy by sending text or email messages verifying voter registration status, reminders about important election deadlines, and polling place location. Developed by the nonpartisan group Democracy Works.
